This award is not about speed. It is to recognise a competitor chosen by the D&L committee that demonstrates good horsemanship skills and is a fine representation of the D&L barrel racing community.

We define good horsemanship as;

• showing kindness to ones horse, not over whipping, spurring or pulling;

• rewarding ones horse after a run, not using an event to discipline;

• good presentation, ones horse well groomed and in good physical condition;

• commitment to continuous learning and improvement; and

• setting a good example for others to follow.

We at D&L encourage everyone to work towards these goals and will always respect them above a fast time.
